Historic downtown area to have new name, new look

Big changes for Mandan’s former Northern Pacific Rail Road Co. depot, beanery and their adjacent parks call for a new name.
The depot currently houses the Fort Abraham Lincoln Foundation, Five Nations Arts and the Lewis & Clark Riverboat Foundation. The beanery contains three organizations – Mandan Progress Organization, Mandan Historical Society and Mandan Art Association. Together they will soon begin a transformation that will turn the former train stop into a focal point for tourists and a hub of activities and events.
The new name for the depot, beanery and surrounding area will be the Heritage Plaza. Foundation Assistant Executive Director Matt Schandandore made the announcement Tuesday before the Mandan City Commission. Continue…

5 years – Neuley Kienzle, Business Banking relationship manager; Graham Loucks, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage consultant. 10 years – Tami Acevedo, personal banker; Wyatt Pollert, Wells Fargo Financial store manager; Lisa Carlson, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage consultant. 15 years – Roberta Nyhus, market support consultant. 20 years – Peg Gaub, business associate; Dan Werner, Wells Fargo Insurance senior sales executive. 25 years – Nancy Leno, private banker; Gail Snustad, administrative assistant; Marlene Helbling, brokerage associate, Wells Fargo Investments. 30 years – Patty Ennen, service manager. 35 years – Carmen Miller, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage consultant.

Mandan FFA attends Winter Leadership Conferences

On Jan. 9 and 10 the Mandan FFA Chapter attended the Winter Leadership Conferences at the Ramkota Hotel in Bismarck. These conferences help build leaders for tomorrow’s business world. There are three conferences which include Greenhand for freshman, Made for Excellence for sophomores and Advanced Leadership Conference for juniors and seniors. The two-day conference consisted of four sessions on Saturday with a banquet and dance that evening. There were three sessions on Sunday that wrapped up the conferences. Continue…

Mandan students to make difference during National FCCLA Week
Forty-two members of the Mandan chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America will join more than 219,000 members in celebrating National FCCLA Week Feb. 7 to 13. This year’s theme is “Grasp Greatness.” During National FCCLA Week, members plan and carry out activities to address teen and societal concerns and show how Family and Consumer Sciences education can help them achieve the ultimate leadership experience.
The Mandan chapter was started in 2006 and has taken part in community service projects, fundraising and spending time helping at local elementary schools. Continue…
