Hoffman to offer tips to students, community
Mandan High School has received an Artist-in-Residence grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts in order to host local artist Jescia Hoffman Monday through Saturday, Feb. 1 to 6, in the Art Department. Hoffman will teach portraiture, watercolor and relief printing to students in the Art I and Art III classes, as well as hosting a community workshop with the MHS Art Club.
The Mandan High School Art Club, in collaboration with Artist in Residence Hoffman, will be hosting a community workshop on relief printing Saturday, Feb. 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at MHS Room 117.
Hoffman will be teaching the basics of creating relief prints. The workshop is open to the public with all materials included for just $1. Participants will carve and print their own linoleum block print. Participants are asked to bring an idea or sketch for their block prints and a sack lunch.
Hoffman, a Mandan native, is a recent graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead, receiving a bachelor of fine arts in drawing and printmaking. Her goal as an artist in residence is to bring an increased appreciation and love of the fine arts to students and the public through community service and an active role in the lives of young people.
