I am pleased to share with you this week news about three new businesses in Mandan. 

• Express Yourself Salon and Spa opened in February at 318 West Main Street, where the interior has been completely refreshed. The salon owner is Jennifer Schmidt, phone 527-4403. Other independent stylists so far include Styles by Tera, Tera Wattie, phone 202-6515; and D’Zyne Hair Studio, DeAn Sackman, phone 471-6304. Booths are available for four more stylists.

• Hoffman’s Tack is opening Saturday, Feb. 27, at 3801 Memorial Highway, in the same building as Farmers Union Insurance and A Buck or So. Owners Tim and Juanita Hoffman have been operating a western tack business from a trailer through exhibits at rodeos and other equine events in the region. They are excited to now have an ongoing presence and outlet for their inventory, which encompasses horse gear, clothing, purses and more. • Beaver Creek Archaeology has moved its office with four full-time, permanent staff members from Linton to 301 First Street N.E., Suite 201, in Mandan. The company offers services in cultural resource management to help clients comply during a permitting or construction process with regulations associated with the National Environmental Policy Act and the National Historic Preservation Act. They also offer ground penetrating radar services. Their clients are typically in the petroleum, transportation and renewable energy industry. The city of Mandan recently issued a 2009 community progress report and business directory. The directory was mailed to approximately 10,500 residents and businesses with a 58554 zip code. An online version of the business directory available at cityofmandan.com will be updated monthly.
