Potter to seek U.S. Senate seat
Tracy Potter, the executive director of the Fort Abraham Lincoln Foundation, announced that he will be seeking the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.
Potter held a press conference last Friday in Fargo to make the announcement. He will be seeking the seat that will be available following the retirement of Democrat Byron Dorgan, who previously announced he won’t be seeking reelection.
The 59-year-old Potter is currently serving a term in the North Dakota State Senate, a seat has had since 2007. He represents district 35, which covers parts of central and western Bismarck.
Potter is the first democrat candidate to seek the Senate seat. Republican Gov. John Hoeven and Fargo architect Paul Sorum are seeking the Republican Senate endorsement.
