Middle school musicians named to all-state

Several Mandan Middle School musicians were named to the North Dakota Junior High All State Band.
The following students were named to the all state band -
Brianna Meissner, flute; Tom Belohlavek, oboe; Rachel Goettle, oboe; Mikaela Herberg, bassoon; Marcie Woehl, alto sax; Sydni Schmidt, alto sax; McKenzie Markegard, baritone sax; Nichole Bloom, French horn; Ben Wanner, trumpet; Sara Aune, bassoon (alternate); Adam Hartman, trombone (alternate).
The North Dakota Junior High All State Band is made up of the top seventh and eighth grade band students from across the state.
The all state band festival is scheduled to be held on Friday and Saturday, March 12 and 13, at the Mandan High School Auditorium, with a concert at 3 p.m.
This year’s guest conductor is Andrea Strauss, from Georgia. Also performing at the concert is the Bismarck-Mandan Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Bill Schmidt, of Bismarck.
