Noise issue could be resolved with formal agreement

A nine-month issue may soon be resolved with an agreement in lieu of a new city ordinance.
In response to dozens of noise complaints last summer, the Mandan City Commission has decided draft an agreement with Captain Freddy’s, in the hopes of satisfying homeowners upset with the noise coming from the bar.
The agreement would allow the bar to have its noise levels up to 50 decibels from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Six exemptions to the rule will be allowed as a part of the agreement. Buggies-n-Blues, Fourth of July and the McQuade Softball Tournament weekend will have the decibel limit lifted, with the addition of three other floating days, which will be approved by the commission.
A draft of the agreement has been directed to City Attorney Malcolm Brown, who will make the revisions before the issue is brought up again to the commissioners. Continue…
