A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week for Lakewood Landing, a retirement community and assisted living facility at 4401 21st St. S.E. in Mandan.

Completion of Lakewood Landing is expected in spring 2013. Plans call for 30 one- and two-bedroom independent living apartments with heated garages and 46 assisted living private suites, 23 of them memory care equipped. A two-story atrium for events and common areas will anchor the approximately three-acre property.

Lakewood Landing Inc. said in a statement that the 69,515-square-foot facility will provide senior housing, personal care and health care services, as well as a la carte care options for independent living with customized advance care services for assisted living and memory care. There also will be walking paths, gardens, a gazebo gathering area and views facing the lake.
