4-H competes at West River contest

The West River Livestock and Crop Judging Contest was recently held in Beulah. The Morton County 4-H Junior and Senior Livestock Judging Team participated in the event.

The senior team was Taylor Friesz, of New Salem, Macey Isaacs, of St. Anthony, and Tessa Keller, of Mandan. Individually, Keller was high individual in the contest and Taylor was second high individual. The team placed fourth in the contest with 10 teams participating.

The Morton County Junior Team placed first in the contest with 10 teams participating. Juniors participating in the contest were Stetson, Jameson and Sierra Ellingson, of St. Anthony, Sara Jochim, of Flasher, and Justin and Samantha Johnson and Hunter Schlosser, all of Mandan. Individually, Jameson placed first in the contest, Sierra was third, Sara was fifth, Stetson was sixth, Hunter was eighth, Samantha was 37th and Justin was 54th. Team coaches are Jackie Buckley and Dwight Keller, of Mandan, and Richard Tokach, of St. Anthony.

In the Senior Crops Judging contest the Senior Team from Morton County Placed first. Team members are Cullen Gress, Brandi Boehm, Tammy Mesich, Vanessa Gross, Tanner Gress, all of Mandan. The team is coached by Dave Axt, Mandan FFA Teacher.
