4-H team wins first in archery

A team from Morton County won first place honors in the 4-H Spring Shooting Sports State Match held May 5 and 6 at the Western 4-H Camp near Washburn.

The Morton County junior division team of Skylar Bitz, Adam Boehm, Jade Ellingson and Beau Eider secured first place in the freestyle team 3-D archery event.

Participants scored 30 3-D animal targets, with one arrow shot at each for a complete round and total possible score of 300. The yardages were marked and adjusted for the participants’ age, with seniors shooting a maximum of 50 yards, juniors 35 yards and beginners 25 yards. Bitz was named the highest scorer.

One hundred eighty-six 4-H’ers competed in the 3-D archery contest.
