Locals awarded artist grants
The North Dakota Council on the Arts completed its spring and fall grant rounds for fiscal year 2013. Several local artists were named for grants through the council. The individuals and organizations are listed by their name, hometown, the category they were awarded in, their affiliation and the award amount:
Ali LaRock, Mandan, artist in residence, Mandan High School, $770; Linda Suchy, Mandan, folk and traditional arts apprenticeships, Lisa Rebenitsch, Melissa Pfenning, Kelly Hanlon and Amy Hansen (apprentices), $2,500; Michelle Lund, Mandan, teacher incentive, Mandan High School, $300; Denelle Scheerle, Mandan, teacher incentive, Christ the King School, $300; Mandan Art Association, Mandan, institutional support, $3,591; Mandan Musicians Association, Mandan, presenter support, $2,000.
A total of $624,953 was awarded in nine different grant programs: artist in residence, community arts access, institutional support, professional development, presenter support, special projects, schools and artists as learning teams, teacher incentive and traditional arts apprenticeship.
All applications were evaluated by grant review panels and awards were subject to approval by the NDCA’s board of directors.
