Camp Sioux offers help to diabetic children
The Mandan Dacotah Lions Club is looking for children who deal with diabetes that are interested attending Camp Sioux in Park River.
The group is looking to sponsor 12 or more local youth with diabetes to attend the camp this June. The dates for the camp in 2013 are June 9 to 14 for session one, and June 16 to 21 for session two. The camp is for children ages 8 to 15.
The camp is an opportunity for kids to see that there are other children with diabetes in their community and how to learn to become an independent young person.
Camp Sioux also offers a “Day at Camp” for kids with diabetes ages 6 to 9 with their parents each Tuesday of each session. This year it would be on June 11 and June 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is $5 per person to attend. It is an opportunity for younger kids to see what camp is all about and still be able to have mom and dad with them for the day.
If you have a child with diabetes and would like to send them to Camp Sioux this year, be sure to contact a Lions Club member by May 1, as registration is due in early May. You can contact any of the following Mandan Dacotah Lions Club members to register – Sherry Fetch at 426-3432, Herman Schafer at 471-2528, or Steve Moore at 527-8179
