Livestock Forage Disaster Programs
April 15 was the first day to apply for Livestock Disaster programs with the new USDA Farm bill. This program is retroactive to Oct. 1, 2011. Payments are for losses incurred in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and then future years, since this is a permanent title in the farm bill. Most of N.D. was in a drought for 2012 and 2013, so please remind producers about the Livestock Forage Disaster Program. A map of eligible counties for LFP drought may be found at http://disaster.fsa.usda.gov Along with a FSA Eligibility Tool, found at http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/fsa/FsaEligibilityCounty.aspx may be used to determine the severity of drought.
