Local members elected to co-op board at annual meeting

Members of Mor-Gran-Sou Electric Cooperative, Inc., met at the Pavilion of Prairie Knights Casino and Resort north of Fort Yates on July 19 to conduct its business at the cooperative’s 66th annual meeting. This year’s theme was “Adapting to Change.”

This year, Mor-Gran-Sou members were asked to vote for three board directors: one for the Grant County position, one for the Mandan-area position, and one for the Morton County position. Incumbents Vernard Frederick, Flasher; Leland “Judge” Barth, Mandan; and Pam Geiger, Mandan; retained their positions on the board for a three-year term.

Frederick is the Grant County representative, Barth is the Mandan-area representative, and Geiger is the Morton County representative.

Mor-Gran-Sou Electric Cooperative also recognized four scholarship winners during the business meeting including Anna Bernhardt, New Salem; Ashton Gullickson, Cannonball; Levi Schlosser, Mandan; and Jacob Walby, Mandan. The teenagers competed for and received a Basin Electric Power Cooperative Mor-Gran-Sou Electric scholarship award in the amount of $500 to further their education as they attend college this fall.
