A welcome home celebration for the three Bike 2 Believe bicyclists was held 7-21 evening at the Mandan Eagles Club to celebrate their successful cancer awareness ride to St. Petersburg, Florida. Shown setting up for the event are from left, Devin Coyle, Joe Berger and Brock Schauer who bicycled 2128 miles together after leaving Bismarck on May 31 and arriving in St. Petersburg on July 3rd. Averaging 76 miles per day the trio also stopped and visited 20 cancer centers along their route. “It varied from cancer centers to cancer support groups,” said Berger who said a highlight for all three riders was a stop in Louisville, Kentucky at Gilda’s (Radner) Club, an all day kids’ camp. Through the journey they only had 5 flat tires and “all were in Georgia” said Berger who added “it’s nice being back.” Bismarck Cancer Center spokesperson Sara Kelsch said the Bike 2 Believe riders raised a total of $232,000 for the center. “It’s been an amazing, someone hears their story and then writes a $100 dollar check,” she said. The event featured each rider speaking about their memories of their ride for cancer awareness.
