Shauna Laber enters Mandan race

Shauna Laber, 41, announced Tuesday that she is running for the Mandan City Commission.
Laber has lived in Mandan for six years. She is a property and right of way specialist for Basin Electric.
“I would like to help the city advance its strategic plan,” Laber said. “I’d like to encourage different types developments in the city and different types of partnerships.” She said the city’s growth should happen in a managed way.
She is strongly interested in how to lower property taxes, maintain Mandan’s aging infrastructure and remain fiscally responsible. “We have some strategic initiatives for the quality of life. We need to provide first-rate services and public safety,” she said.
She earned two bachelor’s degrees from Arizona State University – in economics and in political science.
Laber is a member of the planning advisory council for the Mandan Comprehensive Plan and serves on the Mandan Planning and Zoning Commission.
She is also a board member for the Mandan Marlins Swim Club. The advisory council is addressing the complex issues related tot the city’s growth – balancing development of strong neighborhoods and still encouraging business and industry, said Laber.
She and husband Jeff have three children – daughter Zara at home and two grown children Matt and Renee.
