Students invited to enter billboard design contest

The Mandan Tomorrow – Leadership, Pride and Image Committee and Mandan Youth Commission are partnering to hold a student billboard design contest for community marketing purposes. The contest is open to middle and high school students enrolled in Mandan schools or residents of the Mandan Public School District in grades six to 12.

“We are excited to offer the billboard design contest as a way to actively involve Mandan youth in community marketing,” says committee member Pam Mack. The contest is part of a 2013 “Great Things: Made in Mandan” community marketing campaign that positions the city as a viable and attractive place for business, residents and visitors. Organizers are seeking billboard designs that incorporate the “Made in Mandan” logo in combination with one or more key messages such as “Opportunity,” “Community,” “Achievement,” “Adventure,” or another appropriate heading to emphasize Mandan’s strengths or counter perceived weaknesses.

The entry deadline is Wednesday, May 1. Complete contest rules are available in the offices of the Mandan Middle School, Mandan High School, Mandan City Hall, upon request by calling 667-3485 and via madeinmandan.com.

The winning design will be displayed for at least one month on an area billboard. Other prizes include Mandan Bucks in the amounts of $100 for first place, $75 for second and $50 for third place. Watch for posts about other prizes on the “Made in Mandan” Facebook page.
