Courtney led the Braves in scoring at 13.1 points per game, also averaging 6.2 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. She has been instrumental in the Braves’ climb to a 10-9 record going into west region tournament action.
Goetz is also active in cross country and soccer. She is a member of student council, Leos Club, Trust-n-Teens, national Honor Society and Leadership Group. Goetz also serves as the chairwoman of the Mandan Youth Commission.
When she graduates, Goetz plans to study veterinary medicine, but at this time is unsure what college she will attend.
Curt Zachmeier – Wrestling
Curt Zachmeier earned an 8-0 wrestling record in the month of February. He was named the state Class A wrestling champion in the 132-pound weight class, and was previously named the WDA champion, his second title in that tournament. Zachmeier was also named to the 2013 academic all-state team for wrestling.
In addition to the titles won in February, Zachmeier won all four other tournaments the Braves competed in this year throughout the season, including a 16-0 technical fall win in the Williston Dual.
Braves Boys Wrestling Head Coach Ben Beckler said of Zachmeier, “His dedication to the sport has been the driving factor in reaching his goal of a state championship title. The countless hours of wrestling and training in the off-season has gotten him to where he is today. He is the definite leader of the team, coming back for his senior year next season.”
