Grants available in the New Salem area
The New Salem Area Community Foundation has $150,000 to award in grants.
The foundation will award the money to nonprofit organizations and governmental agencies for projects that serve New Salem.
“Whether we need new playground equipment or a downtown restoration project or something for our fire district, we have the money to address the needs of our town,” said Gregg Klusmann, a member of the foundation’s advisory committee, in a statement.
Grant applications are due March 15. A potential second round of grants could be awarded in the fall.
The New Salem Area Community Endowment Fund was established through a fund from the former New Salem Credit Union. Earning from the fund will be given as grants each year. Yearly earnings are expected to be $50,000.
