Huber chosen as scholar finalist
Madison Huber, of Mandan, has been named one of 10 students from across western North Dakota as finalists for the Chevy Scholar program.
Two of the finalists will receive $5,000 scholarships from the West Dakota Chevy Dealers. Winners will be determined by the number of online and text votes the students receive from their friends, families, peers, teachers and communities through March 18.
More than 130 students applied. Students either nominated themselves or were nominated by family, friends, parents, teachers or coaches. Finalists were determined by their community involvement, academic achievements, extracurricular activities, volunteer work and an essay. Huber, a senior at Mandan High School, was nominated by her creative writing, speech and British literature instructor Benita Sauer.
To vote online, go to chevyscholar.com/vote, sign in, choose the name of the student you’d like to vote for from the list of finalists and click “submit.” To text your vote, go to chevyscholar.com/finalists and find the code for the finalist you would like to vote for. Then text that code to 27126.
Voters can vote once per day. The voting will close at 12 p.m. noon on Monday, March 18, and Chevy Scholar will announce the two $5,000 winners on March 22.
