Klever crowned Miss Rodeo mandan, Bauer named Princess
Courtney Klever and Karie Bauer will serve as ambassadors for the 2015 Mandan Rodeo Days Celebration in their new roles as Miss Rodeo Mandan and Miss Rodeo Mandan Princess. The two were crowned during the Fourth of July professional rodeo in Mandan.
Klever, 20, is a graduate of LaMoure High School and has attended the Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Fergus Falls for equine science. She is currently an assistant preschool teacher at Dakota Montessori in Fargo. She participates in cowboy mounted shooting and is a member of several horse clubs including Triple R Coteau, James River Riders, Circle R, and Bear Creek Rough Riders. She is the daughter of Troy and Beth Klever, LaMoure.
Bauer, 11, will be a sixth grader at Mandan Middle School. Karie competes in rodeos in barrel racing, pole bending, and goat tying. Her other hobbies and interests include fishing, drawing, camping, hunting, and spending time with her family. She competes in the Mandan Horse and Saddle Club, Crossroads Barrel Association, and plans to participate during the 2014-15 season in the N.D. Junior High School Rodeo Association. Her parents are Jim and Dee Bauer, Mandan.
Klever swept all categories in the pageant: horsemanship, personality and appearance. Tatyana Tibke, Wilton, was first runner-up. Contestants chose Amy Landsiedel, Regan, for the congeniality award.
In the princess division, Bauer won the horsemanship division. Jaycee Richter, Linton, won the personality division. Bailey Schock, Mandan, won the appearance division. Richter was first runner-up. Bauer was selected to receive the congeniality award by other contestants.
Among the many prizes awarded were a queen’s trophy saddle sponsored by Express Yourself Salon and Spa and a princess saddle sponsored by Waddell and Reed, Bismarck. Trophy buckles were sponsored by Great Plains Technical Services and Joe and Sandi LaDuke, Dunn Center. Klever also receives a $1,000 scholarship from the BSC Foundation.
Klever and Bauer will be asked to participate in speaking engagements on behalf of the Mandan Rodeo Committee, to assist at regional rodeos and to teach youth about the sport of rodeo and activities offered during Mandan Rodeo Days.
