Local medical students named for awards
Medical students of the M.D. Class of 2013 and faculty of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences were recognized by the school at the Commencement Awards Presentation on Sunday, May 12.
Kristen Fiest, of Mandan, was named for the North Dakota District Medical Society Award, which is given by the district medical society on each campus to the student who best exemplifies high scholarship and characteristics of integrity, leadership and initiative.
Both Fiest and Rachel Peterson, also of Mandan, was presented with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Senior Award, which is given for scholastic excellence and exceptional clinical potential to a senior student who is pursuing a career in obstetrics and gynecology.
In addition to her two other awards, Fiest was named as an inductee into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. This recognizes senior medical students who demonstrate exemplary humanism and professionalism throughout their medical education.
