The election for the school bond issue is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 25. The seven polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The seven polling locations are the Brave Center, the Mandan Middle School and the city╒s five elementary schools – Custer, Fort Lincoln, Lewis & Clark, Mary Stark and Roosevelt.

People will vote to decide whether or not the Mandan School District will build a new elementary school in northwest Mandan, at Lewis Road and 37th Avenue N.W.

The estimated cost of the elementary school is $12.5 million. The school district began the process of making plans to build the proposed elementary school after seeing a consistent increase in enrollment. Last year, enrollment in elementary school grades was up by 93 students. In 2007-08 Mandan had 1,280 students enrolled in grades kindergarten through fifth grade, and beginning this fall, enrollment in those grades was at 1,536.
