Buggies-n-Blues coming June 8 and 9

A BNBBuggies-n-Blues will be celebrating its 20th year, which will be taking place Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9, in downtown Mandan.

The two-day event will include a Parade of Classics, a Saturday Night Dance, silent auctions, a Mandan Airport breakfast and the Classic Car Show along Main Street, among other events taking place along Main Street and The Strip.

The Saturday Night Dance will be held at Dykshoorn Park, with live music taking place from 4 p.m. to midnight. Live music will be provided by opening band Stone Mountain Band and the featured band, The Front Fenders. Admission to the Saturday Night Dance is $5, and children 12 and under free. Those attending are asked to bring their own lawn chairs. Concession stands and a beer garden will also be available.

On Sunday, the Classic Car Show will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. along Main Street. Vehicles 1986 and older will be on display, in addition to specialty cars. Concessions, beer garden and live music will continue throughout the day.

The Mandan Airport will also hold a fly-in breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 9. For more information, call 330-2210 or go online to mandanairport.com.

The featured exhibit this year will be antique tractors. Buggies-n-Blues is looking for people who own old, interesting and unusual tractors.

Mandan Progress Organization Executive Director Del Wetsch, which organizes the Buggies-n-Blues each year, says the tractors are being featured as a way to keep and restore these reminders of how things were done in the last half of the century. “It is wonderful that Buggies-n-Blues is again giving recognition to these machines and the individuals who realize the value of restoring and preserving them,” Wetsch says.

Buggies-n-Blues is looking for the usual John Deere, Oliver, Massey Harris, Massey Ferguson and other popular models, but is also seeking some lesser known models as well. If you or someone you know has a machine and would like to display it, call Perry Schlosser at 220-0467 or 663-5317, or email schlosser55@hotmail.com.

None of the tractors have to be restored or in pristine condition to be included. Tractor clubs are also welcome. There is no charge to registration for this event.

The tractors are also invited to take part in the Parade of Classics on the evening of June 8.
