City, BMDA meet to discuss industrial park needs

On Thursday, Jan. 24, Mandan Mayor Arlyn Van Beek, Mandan City Commissioner Mike Braun, City Administrator Jim Neubauer and Business Development Director Ellen Huber met with members of the Bismarck Mandan Development Association to discuss the city’s potential sites for an industrial park.

The city staff was provided a detailed review of the existing sites and properties that are potentially available for future industrial projects. The concern on the part of the city is that there is no readily available industrial park, and the cost of acquiring a sufficient size site and developing it with all the required infrastructure including rail service, sewer, water, power and streets is cost prohibitive.

As a result of the hour-long discussion, the BMDA and the city will continue watching the potential need and will plan to assist any potential industrial business find the necessary size lot on a project by project basis.
