Custer Health awarded grant for men’s cancer screening
Custer Health has been awarded a $6,000 community grant from the Northern Plains Comprehensive Cancer Control Coalition, a program of the Great Plains Tribal Chairmen’s Health Board. The money will be used for prostate and colorectal cancer screening and for men over the age of 40 on the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Reservation.
“Through prevention, early detection, and screening, the number of people that die from cancer will be significantly reduced. With help from the Northern Plains Cancer Coalition, we will enhance and increase the quality of life and survivorship of cancer for American Indian men,” says Jodie Fetsch, director of Nursing for Custer Health.
Custer Health serves Morton, Grant, Oliver, Mercer and Sioux counties.
