Developer to add homes at Heart Ridge
A Bismarck developer is planning a 160-home development in southwest Bismarck. Wachter Development Inc. plans to build a $75.2 million single-family residential housing development in 2014 to help meet area housing demands, according to a statement.
Chad Wachter of Wachter Development said pre-sales on the homes will start Jan. 1. He said the company is still waiting for city government approval of its stormwater plan, so building will start later in the year. He predicts the development will take two years to complete.
Construction also will begin on the final phase of Copper Ridge Development south of Lincoln and Heart Ridge in southwest Mandan. Another 70 homes on 140 acres will be added in May or June to the 250 completed at Copper Ridge to date, Wachter said. At Heart Ridge, 52 homes will be added.
The starting price for all three developments will range from $249,000 to $275,000, which Wachter said is the price of a starter-level home in the Bismarck market. As building costs have gone up, he said, Wachter Development has changed the way it purchases materials to keep prices as low as possible.
The southwest Bismarck development will be called South Meadows and will be located on 65 acres on the corner of Washington Street and Burleigh Avenue. Lots will be about one-third of an acre and homes will start at 2,400 square feet.
