Mandan Art Association’s 53rd annual Spring Show opens today at the gallery, located at 411 W. Main St. An opening reception will also be held tonight from 5 to 7 p.m.

The reception, which is free and open to the public, will include baked goods and live acoustic music featuring Jay Lardinois and friends.

More than 65 works from regional artists will vie for cash prizes at this year’s event, which is the association’s longest running annual event. All items will be for sale in this year’s show. Mandan Art Association member and art teacher, Charlene Jones, will decide Gallery and Best of Show awards. Gallery visitors will vote to select the final prize: The People’s Choice Award. Ballots for the People’s Choice award will be collected all month at the gallery.

The gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The art show will run from today through Friday, April 29. For more details, go online to mandanart.org or call 751-4331.

The Mandan Art Association began in 1958 by a dedicated group of artists and art lovers who wanted to share their interest in art with Mandan and the surrounding area.
