Mandan Speech Team on the move
The Mandan Speech Team is growing by numbers and strength. The team has been on the road and competing at several speech invitationals across the state.
The team has most recently competed at the Bismarck St. Mary’s Invitational and place first out of 26 teams. The team also placed first at the Minot State Tourney, ahead of 22 other class A and class B schools. Several team members have already qualified for the state tourney.
The next competition will be the West Region tourney hosted by Mandan on Saturday, April 6. This event is open to the public. The State A tourney will be held on Saturday, April 20, at Jamestown High School, and the national qualifying tourney will be held on April 15 and 16 at the Seven Seas in Mandan.
Speech team members currently competing from the Mandan Middle School are Olivia Borchers, Micayla Bitz, Kaycee Fry, Taylor Abbott, Alexis Horn and Kaylin Tomac. High school participants are Danny Huus, Mitch Hersch, Levi Schlosser, John Thomason, Klynton Lundstrom, Kristian Stenslie, Skylar Moody, Billy Fleck, Jordan Aldrich, Cole Cymbaluk, Carter Tomac, Brandon Schaner, Adam Michal, Taylor Jung, Shae Skager, Genna Boehm, Elyssa Bickford, Marissa Koppy, Maddy Jansky, Ashlyn Quintus, Hannah Jacobson, Elley Cannard, Sydney Reimers, Matty Singer, Hannah Fishbeck, Katlyn Evenson and Marissa Koppy.
The team is coached by Annette Bender, Amy Vetter, and Pat Pins.
