Morton County 4-H members compete at state contest
The Morton County 4-H Livestock Judging Teams competed at the State Livestock Judging Contest in Valley City on March 10. Team coaches are Dwight Keller, Richard Tokach and Jackie Buckley.
In the junior contest the 4-Hers finished in first place. Team members were Stetson, Jameson and Sierra Ellingson, St. Anthony, Sara Jochim, Flasher, and Kathryn Goettle and Hunter Schlosser, Mandan. Individually, Stetson place second high overall, Jameson was fourth high overall, Sierra 22nd high, Sara 34th, Hunter 37th and Kathryn 51st. There were 118 youth in the junior contest and 23 counties represented in the contest.
In the senior contest the team placed third. Team members were Taylor Friesz and Jacob Engelter, New Salem, Renae Tokach, St. Anthony, Tessa Keller, Matt Smith, Cody Wald, Patrick Johnson, Hunter Kleinjan and Macey Isaacs, all of Mandan, and Josh and Katie Jochim, Flasher. Individually, Taylor placed sixth, Renae 11th, Jake 16th, Tessa Keller 33rd, Macey 36th. There were 88 youth in the 4-H contest and 19 different counties participating.
In the Hippology Contest the Morton County Team placed fourth in the Valley City Contest. Participating was Morgan Henke and Brenna Hoger, New Salem, and Ashley Goldade and Brooke Heidrich, Bismarck. Team coaches are Renell Henke, New Salem, and Nicole Goldade, Bismarck.
In the senior crops judging contest the Morton County team placed fifth overall. Team Members were Kyler Pazdernik, Tanner, and Cullen Gress, Tammy Mesich, Vanessa Gross, Matt Vannett and Dalton Gussiaas, all of Mandan. The team is coached by David Axt, Mandan FFA Advisor.
