Morton County competes at state 4-H livestock contest
Morton County 4-H members participated in the State 4-H Livestock Contest at the North Dakota Winter Show the first week of March. Participating on the Senior team was Renae Tokach, Macey Isaacs, Stetson Ellingson and Kelsie Schaff, all of St. Anthony, Jess Sanders and Jake Engelter, of New Salem, Patrick Johnson and Tessa Keller, Mandan, and Sara Jochim, Flasher. The Junior Team participants were Sierra and Jameson Ellingson, Kourtney Schaff and Cody Tokach, all of St. Anthony, John and Kathryn Goettle, Wyatt McGee, Caleb and Kaycee Fry, all of Mandan, and Conner Kaelberer, New Salem.
In the junior contest, the juniors placed third overall. To make up the team score the top three scores are added to get the team score. The top three individuals were Sierra Ellingson in fifth place, Kathryn Goettle in 22nd place and Jameson Ellingson in 24th place.
In the senior contest the team placed fourth overall. Individually, Macey Isaacs was ninth, Tessa Keller was 14th, Sara Jochim was 29th and Renae Tokach was 34th. The top three scores are also tabulated to get the total team score.
The teams are coached by Dwight Keller, Ben and Richard Tokach, Taylor Friesz, and Jackie Buckley.
