Brandon Schafer has been hired as the new head boys’ basketball coach for the Mandan Braves. He will replace Jason Horner, who resigned his position this spring.

Schafer is a 2004 graduate of Mandan High School and a 2009 graduate of Mayville State University. At Mayville State, Schafer served as team captain for the mens’ basketball team. He played in three national tournaments and one National Championship game.

Schafer has served as the Mandan Braves boys’ head freshman basketball coach for the past four years. He is currently a math instructor at Mandan High School.

Mandan Activities Director, Lorell Jungling, says, “We are excited to name Brandon Schafer as our head boys’ basketball coach. He will bring energy and leadership to our program. His quiet confidence, tactical skills and work ethic will allow our program to be competitive in the WDA and at the state level.”
