Take photos with Santa and support CDHS

The Central Dakota Humane Society (CDHS) will be holding its annual Santa Paws event on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 2 and 3 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Plantperfect, 4615 Ottawa Street, Bismarck – across from the north Wal-Mart.

Abby Walker was featured in the book, "Awkward Family Pet Photos," which was published in 2011. Her Santa Paws photo from 2010, with all her dogs was chosen. However, nobody at CDHS thought it was awkward, they think it's a work of art.

People are encouraged to bring their pets and families to pose for a picture with Santa Claus. People can pose with or without pets, as an individual or as a group and with or without Santa. This event is a great chance to get professional-quality photos of your pet, child, grandchild or the whole family and support a worthy cause at the same time. All proceeds from the event go to support the animals rescued by CDHS.

No appointments are necessary. People can enjoy refreshments and browse through the beautiful holiday displays at Plant Perfect while they wait.

There is a $20 fee per pet or person, with $5 charged for each additional pet or person in the sitting (up to a maximum of $40). This price includes one 4 x 6 print and all pictures copied to a CD for easy reproduction.

Pictures will be ready for pickup at the CDHS shelter on Saturday, November 9, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The shelter is located three miles north of Mandan on Highway 1806 at 2104 37th Street.

The Santa Paws event is sponsored in part by In-Dog-Neat-O dog grooming of Bismarck.

CDHS is a no-kill animal shelter that serves Bismarck-Mandan and the surrounding communities by housing and finding homes for lost, strayed or abandoned animals, promoting spaying and neutering and offering educational opportunities. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more information about events or to view pictures of adoptable animals, visit the CDHS website at www.cdhs.net
