The Mandan Art Association is currently hosting an exhibit of the work of Beverly Maitland, Bismarck artist, at its gallery located at 411 W. Main St. in Heritage Plaza.

The exhibit will be on display until Thursday, May 31. An open house reception will be held tonight from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Maitland specializes in hand designed and fired tile pieces such as wall hangings, boxes with tile inserts and serving trays. She attended the Santa Theresa Tileworks in Tucson, Ariz., for nearly six months to learn this specialized technique. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind item created using underglazes and a high-fired technique. The pieces can also be used for custom kitchen murals, fireplaces and surfaces for furniture. If you are looking for something unique and exciting these are the pieces for you.
