Earlier this month, the Mandan FFA Chapter participated in the annual District 7 Leadership Conference, where the members attending took part in various events.

For the quiz teams, the freshmen members took part in the Greenhand Quiz to show their knowledge of general facts of the FFA and the organization’s history. This team received a gold award for their overall performance with 16 individuals participating. In the second quiz event known as the Chapter Quiz, Mandan’s team of five took a silver award after displaying what they knew about more detailed questions of the organization and questions of past state and national contests. The third group competition was entered by the Parliamentary Procedure team. These members, made up of the chapter officers, had to successfully show how to conduct a meeting efficiently and accurately under the organization’s rules of order. They also had to show further knowledge by taking a written test on the same subject.

In addition, there were five areas of individual competition. The first four were the speeches, which include Prepared Public Speaking, Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Creed Speaking and the Demonstrative Speech. In Extemporaneous, Macey Isaacs received a silver award for her performance. Also in Prepared, Renae Tokach received first and will be advancing on to the State FFA Convention in May. Similarly, Audrey Gifford will also be advancing to state for her demonstrative speech.

In addition, Stetson Elinson will be moving on to state in the Creed Speaking competition for his second place finish on reciting the FFA creed. The fifth and final individual competition was that of Job Interview, where Kaylyn Hopfauf received a silver award.
