Mandan FFA hosts annual banquet
On April 12, the Mandan FFA Chapter held its annual Award and Parent Appreciation Banquet at the Braves Center. There were approximately 100 members and guests present. Wyatt Bachmier, the North Dakota FFA Northeast vice president, was the guest speaker for that evening.
Many awards were given out during that evening: Top Fundraiser, Top and Beginning Crop, Livestock, and Ag Sales Judger, FFA Alumni Awards, Honorary Chapter Farmer, and Outstanding Students. The Top Fundraisers were Brandi Boehm, $2,425.00, Sarah Fischer, $2,186.50, and Renae Tokach, $2,186.00.
The top Crops Judger was Tanner Gress and the Top Beginning Crops Judger was Cullen Gress. The Top Livestock Judger was Renae Tokach, and the Top Beginning Livestock Judger was Cody Wald.
The Top Ag Sales Participant was O. Kaiden Straabe, and the Top First Year Participant was Stacia Hopfauf.
The Mandan FFA Alumni awarded Rita Miller the Outstanding Alumnus of 2011-12, and awarded Gate City Bank and Elmer and Alvina Madler the Alumni Appreciation Awards. The next award that was given was the Mandan FFA Honorary Chapter Farmer Award. This is given to someone who provides service and inspiration to the FFA. Wilfred Volesky, the superintendent of Mandan Public Schools, was the recipient of this award.
The Star Greenhand was awarded to Cullen Gress. The Outstanding Sophomore was awarded to Tessa Keller, the Outstanding Junior was awarded to Renae Tokach, the Star Chapter Farmer was awarded to Brandi Boehm, and the DeKalb Award was awarded to O. Kaiden Straabe.
Brandi Boehm and Jared Schimdt were selected to receive scholarships from the Mandan FFA Chapter for students pursuing a degree in agriculture.
