Mandan sets deadline, hearing on annexation protests
A downsized annexation proposal involving property north of the Mandan Middle School again drew heavy objection on Tuesday from rural homeowners who stopped two previous annexation attempts. The homeowners say they want to remain outside of city borders and avoid paying what could be six-figure special assessments to Mandan.
The Mandan City Commission scheduled an Oct. 1 hearing to determine whether there are enough objections to stop an 878-acre annexation proposal bordering N.D. Highway 1806. The deadline for filing the protests is 4:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Mandan City Hall. Legal notices about the annexation will be published in the Mandan News, notifying property owners of the protest deadline.
