Milling begins on eight blocks of Sunset Drive
Knife River Corporation has begun the second and third phases of its reconstruction work on Sunset Drive, which includes a complete replacement of the existing roadway, sidewalks, driveways, curb and underground utilities from Seventh Street N.W. to 14th Street N.W.
This work requires closure of Sunset Drive from Seventh Street NW to 500 feet north of 15th Street N.W., effective Tuesday. Detour routes are marked. Knife River estimates the road will partially reopen – near Mandan High School and Lewis and Clark Elementary School – by the time school resumes in August.
The underground utility work on Phase I of the project is largely complete. Knife River has finished installing water and sanitary sewer lines, and is beginning installation of the storm sewer line on Phase I. Curb and gutter installation will follow, along with the improvements to the road.
