All of the Morton County Extension Office Staff will be in New Salem starting Thursday, July 31, until Sunday, Aug. 3. The office will be staffed very minimally on Thursday and Friday of that week. Please leave a message on the voice mail, and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Open Class Home Economics Exhibits
Open class home economics exhibitors are reminded that the Morton County Fairboard has moved the judging of these exhibits to Thursday evening; July 31 at 7:30 p.m. Exhibitors may bring their exhibits to the fair on Thursday between the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. For more information on the Open Class Exhibits, please call Sharon Toepke at 701-843-7767.

Come to the Morton County Fair
The 54th Annual Morton County Fair will be held in New Salem July 31- Aug. 3, in New Salem. The fair will kick off with 4-H General Achievement Day on Thursday, July 31. All of the static 4-H Exhibits will be judged on the 31. In addition, the Morton County 4-H Horse Show will be held on the 31, starting at 10 a.m.

Advance fair passes are available at the Morton County Extension office and at the following merchants in New Salem: Security First Bank, Rud’s Tesoro, Cenex of New Salem and Capital Credit Union in New Salem.

The 4-H Livestock Achievement Day will be held on Friday, Aug. 1. The 4-H Livestock Judging will begin at 8:30 a.m. The 4-H Livestock Premium Sale will be held at 5 p.m. on the 1. An NDRA Rodeo will be held at 6:30 p.m., on Friday evening, August 1. A dance will follow the rodeo, featuring the 32 Below.

On Saturday Aug. 2, the day will start with open class livestock judging. Beef, sheep, swine, goats, horse and dairy judging will be held. The barrel racing competition will begin at 11 a.m. There will be various groups entertaining in the Entertainment building throughout the day. The annual BBQ Chicken Supper will start at 4:30 p.m., followed by a rodeo at 6:30 p.m. The Morton County Power Pull will be held at 6 p.m. The evening will wrap-up with a dance featuring the live band Redline.
Bring the kids to the fair on Saturday. Games Galore will be there with a bucking bull, photo booth, jousting, race car simulator and a kiddie slide. They will be on the grounds from noon to 5 p.m.
On Sunday, Aug. 3, the ranch rodeo competition will be held at 1 p.m. The Kiddie Pedal Pull will begin at 11:30 a.m. A free noon meal will be served by the Mandan and New Salem FFA Alumni Associations sponsored by the Morton County Fair Association. An Antique Tractor Pull will begin at 1 p.m.
