New Zealand author to visit Mandan library
Award winning author, Kyle Mewburn, from New Zealand, is scheduled to visit the Mandan and Bismarck area Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 6 to 8. In his honor, Morton Mandan Public Library will host a meet the author reception on Thursday, Oct. 7, beginning at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend, and refreshments will be served.
Mewburn arrived in Grand Forks on Sept. 23, where he began a three-week tour to libraries and elementary schools in 10 cities across North Dakota. His arrival in Grand Forks coincides with the North Dakota Library Association’s annual conference, where he is being honored for receiving the 2010 NDLA Flicker Tale Children’s Book Award for his picture book, “KISS! KISS! YUCK! YUCK!”
While here, Mewburn will visit 12 elementary schools in Mandan and Bismarck to talk to the kids about his book, his journey to becoming an author and what it’s like to live in New Zealand. This is his first visit to the United States.
Mewburn’s decision to tour North Dakota was prompted by an invitation from Flicker Tale Chair, Linda Austin, who also serves as the children’s program coordinator at Morton Mandan Public Library.
