Eddie Nagel

Eddie Nagel, 76, Flasher, died July 5, 2013, at his residence in Flasher.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, July 10, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Flasher, with Rev. Dennis Schaefer as celebrant. Burial was at St. Gertrude.

Edwin “Eddie” Nagel was born Aug. 29, 1936, in Brisbane, the son of John A. Nagel and Theresa (Koch) Nagel. As a child, he lived on the family ranch near Shields and attended Grant County School. He attended Flasher High School. After school he decided to stay on the family ranch, with his father, where he ranched his entire life. His father purchased him a 1956 Ford Victoria Hardtop, becoming Eddie’s pride and joy. From the time he was a youngster, Eddie was a rancher until the day he passed on.

Eddie married Verna Walker on May 5, 1978, in Mandan. They lived on the ranch raising their son, Michael Scholes, Sr.

He always gave his best and was an extremely hard worker. He truly understood God’s purpose for his life. Eddie always had Hershey chocolate bars as he was a “chocoaholic.”

A special thanks to Rose Mary, James and Larry for the concern and compassion they showed Eddie on his final trail ride in life.

Eddie will be deeply missed by his wife, Verna; son, Michael Scholes Sr., Bismarck; sister, Rose Mary (James) Lawson, Flasher; brother, Larry Nagel, Shields; grandchildren, Michael Scholes, Jr. and Richard Scholes; special friend, Todd Ulmer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Lester.
