An orientation picnic for foreign exchange students was held on Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Eureka Picnic Shelter in Eureka, S.D. Seven exchange students coming from Brazil, Norway, and Germany, along with their hosts families and representatives from Forte International Exchange Association were in attendance.

Tara Lacher, of Mandan, and her daughters, Laura and Olivia, are hosting Luisa Ries of Belo Horizonte in Minas Gerais, Brazil, who was among those that took part in the orientation picnic.

This gathering was held not only to welcome the students to America, but also to answer any questions they might have about the program and to give students and families a chance to socialize with each other.

Along with socializing and questions about the program, several trips throughout the year were discussed. As a group, the students will get to travel to the Mall of America and Disney World. This provides the students to get to see places other than their host communities.
