Schafer presented with award
The North Dakota Association of Elementary School Principals has awarded Jean Schafer the Bell Ringer Award at its awards banquet held Feb. 7 at the NDAESP Mid-Winter Conference in Mandan.
Schafer is the principal at Fort Lincoln Elementary School. The association stated that she was recognized for the award due to her instituting Conscious Discipline in her school. She ensured that all willing staff received professional development in the techniques, and she is credited with a unique ability to strongly encourage broad participation without mandating.
The Bell Ringer award was established by Clarence Corneil during his leadership in the association. The award was originally called the “You Done Good” Award and was intended to recognize and celebrate some accomplishment or contribution by an association member.
The award now identifies those individuals who are nominated by their peers for their positive contributions, for making a difference and for “doing good.”
