Dakota Classic Modified Tour races include Mandan

The 25th annual Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Modified Tour dates and locations have been set for 2014.

Despite multiple requests to expand the tour into neighboring states, the six cooperating tracks that make up the tour decided to keep the traditional locations, with some change to work around the North Dakota State Fair and Stutsman County Fair.

IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Stock Cars will be on the program at all tracks. Kupper Chevrolet of Mandan will provide the $2,000 Modified and $1,000 points funds for the top 10 in series points.
Minot will again host the opening night of the series on Sunday, July 6. Minot and Nodak Speedway were one of the original tour tracks when the series started in 1990.

On Monday, July 7, the series heads north of the international border to Estevan, Saskatchewan, and the Estevan Motor Speedway. Williston and the Williston Basin Speedway will host night No. 3 of the tour on Tuesday, July 8. On Wednesday, July 9, the series heads to the Southwest Speedway in Dickinson. Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, one of the original tour tracks, has the Thursday, July 10, date this year.

The tour wraps up its six consecutive day run in Jamestown on Friday, July 11, at the Jamestown, Speedway.

Payouts have been increased. The winner of the Modified feature will receive $1,700 at all six tracks. The IMCA Stock Car winner will receive $800. Both divisions will award large ceremonial first-place checks to all feature winners at all tracks. This year, the drivers get to keep the ceremonial checks.

ale McEwen of Winnipeg will return to flag the entire series that uses identical formats, payouts and registration fees at all six tracks. IMCA rules in both the Modified and Stock Car divisions will be used as in the past. With all of Montana and two western Minnesota tracks going to IMCA modified sanctioning for 2014, the tour expects to attract even more cars and.
