Paul Christen and Megan Hanson have been named co-head coaches of the Mandan Braves girls tennis program.

Christen is also the Braves boys head tennis coach, a position he has held since 2006. Hanson also coaches volleyball for the Braves.

Christen is a 2001 graduate of Williston High School, where he was a three-time state place winner in both tennis and wrestling. He received his bachelor of science degree in 2005 from the University of Mary, where he was a three-time MVP for the men’s tennis team. He was an assistant coach for Williston and Bismarck Century High School before coming to Mandan in 2005. He teaches math at Mandan High School.

Hanson previously served as an assistant coach in the middle school program. A 2002 MHS graduate, she helped the Braves to a third-place finish at the state tennis meet her senior year. Hanson is a 2006 graduate of U-Mary, where she also played tennis. She coached the Mandan Junior High team for four years while attending U- Mary and rejoined the program in 2010 as the Mandan Middle School assistant. She is a history teacher at MHS.

Mandan High School Activities Director Lorell Jungling said, “Paul and Megan worked together at the middle school level and meshed well together. We feel they are a good fit to lead our Braves girls tennis team. To have both coaches working within the school district makes it easier to connect with the girls.”
