State of Mandan Public Schools the topic of March 18 ‘More About Mandan Monday’

The Mandan Tomorrow – Leadership, Pride and Image Committee is hosting the first of four “More About Mandan Monday” community educational sessions on Monday, March 18. The topic is the state of the Mandan Public School District. Presenters include Superintendent Dr. Mike Bitz, Business Manager Christi Schaefbauer and School Board Member Kirsten Baesler.

The session will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Mandan City Hall.

The information session will provide an overview of general school district operations including facilities, programs in general, special and alternative education, sources of revenue and expenditures, faculty and staff, and statistics on student achievement.

Information will also be provided about serving on the school board including basic requirements and steps to seek candidacy. Three positions are up for election in June. The deadline to file is April 12.

The information session about the public school district is the first of four sessions planned this spring for citizens interested in learning more about local government services. All sessions will be held at City Hall from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Other session dates and topics are as follows: March 25 – Property Taxes 101 & City Budgeting; April 8 – Public Works (street repair, snow removal, street sweeping, etc.); and April 15 – Law Enforcement.
