Task force increasing DUI enforcement
Beginning today through Sunday, Oct. 14, the Southwest Regional DUI Task Force will increase enforcement as part of an effort with the North Dakota Department of Transportation to keep individuals from driving under the influence. With increased enforcement efforts, additional officers will be assigned to monitor city, rural and state roadways.
“Making necessary arrests will hopefully help us reduce the number of fatalities on North Dakota roads,” says Morton County Sheriff Dave Shipman. “In 2011, there were 6,200 DUI arrests in North Dakota and this number is quite simply, too high.”
“Our goal is to keep motorists safe on our roadways,” says Brent Wilmeth, Mandan Police Department sergeant. “Making necessary DUI arrests will help us reduce the number of fatalities on North Dakota roads.”
