Leingang named Dean of Academic Affairs

Dan Leingang Daniel Leingang has been named Dean of Academic Affairs at Bismarck State College, replacing long-time dean Janelle Masters who retired June 30.

Leingang is a Mandan native and has been with BSC since 2000, teaching a wide variety of mathematics courses as an associate professor of mathematics. He was named chair of the Geomatics, Engineering and Mathematics Department in 2005 and earned national and regional awards as outstanding advisor to BSC’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society.

Leingang is a recipient of BSC’s Faculty Award for Excellence, the 2013 winner of Jack Fellowship from the BSC Foundation and earned the 2014 Association of Community Trustees Western Region Faculty Member Award.

Leingang is completing his doctorate in educational leadership with a higher education focus from the University of North Dakota.

“One of my goals has always been to move into leadership as my career has progressed. I’m excited to engage more on the campus beyond the classroom,” Leingang said.
